Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break. It has been wonderful to see all the students return this term with enthusiasm.
Lunchtime clubs have continued with some new choices including knitting, STEAM and skipping. The Gardening and Music Clubs have continued. Last term saw the Music Club singers perform the songs they had been learning for other grades who provided a very appreciative audience. The Gardening Club members planted many plants, kindly donated by Townsends Nursery, on the hill area next to the senior basketball court. Thanks to Kerri for helping Mrs Gin and the students with this big task and special thanks to Townsends Nursery! If any parents would like to assist with these clubs, please contact the school office. There is a process we need to adhere to before any volunteers can commence at the school.
The school captains have organised for new music this term, to accompany the bells in accordance with the students’ suggestions.
The Students Representative Council, with the guidance of Mr Travis Newton, have been busy, already planning a writing competition. The SRC have also consulted with students in all grades about suggestions for some line markings on the asphalt area between the soccer pitch and Senior Playground. We will be following up these suggestions over the coming weeks. This group has also helped to assemble the new soccer goals which we purchased due to their feedback.
The next building project, involving the upgrading and extension of the current 5 /6 building, is also progressing with the architects busy consulting with staff over the details. We hope that this project will be completed over the course of this year and look forward to utilisng the new space to enhance the students’ educational experiences.
We are in consultation with Totally Work Wear to source a water resistant coat/jacket to provide students with an option for added warmth and weather protection. We know these jackets will be very handy in winter and on excursions and camps.
I encourage all parents to keep in contact with teachers if they have any questions or concerns about their child/ren. Thanks again to all parents for their continued support and encouragement. We look forward to an enjoyable and productive term!
