Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break. It has been wonderful to see all the students return this term with enthusiasm.
Lunchtime clubs have continued with some new choices including knitting, STEAM and skipping. The Gardening and Music Clubs have continued. Last term saw the Music Club singers perform the songs they had been learning for other grades who provided a very appreciative audience. The Gardening Club members planted many plants, kindly donated by Townsends Nursery, on the hill area next to the senior basketball court. Thanks to Kerri for helping Mrs Gin and the students with this big task and special thanks to Townsends Nursery! If any parents would like to assist with these clubs, please contact the school office. There is a process we need to adhere to before any volunteers can commence at the school.
The school captains have organised for new music this term, to accompany the bells in accordance with the students’ suggestions.
The Students Representative Council, with the guidance of Mr Travis Newton, have been busy, already planning a writing competition. The SRC have also consulted with students in all grades about suggestions for some line markings on the asphalt area between the soccer pitch and Senior Playground. We will be following up these suggestions over the coming weeks. This group has also helped to assemble the new soccer goals which we purchased due to their feedback.
The next building project, involving the upgrading and extension of the current 5 /6 building, is also progressing with the architects busy consulting with staff over the details. We hope that this project will be completed over the course of this year and look forward to utilisng the new space to enhance the students’ educational experiences.
We are in consultation with Totally Work Wear to source a water resistant coat/jacket to provide students with an option for added warmth and weather protection. We know these jackets will be very handy in winter and on excursions and camps.
I encourage all parents to keep in contact with teachers if they have any questions or concerns about their child/ren. Thanks again to all parents for their continued support and encouragement. We look forward to an enjoyable and productive term!

Gracious and loving God,
the cross of Christ is the sign of your desire for justice and peace for all.
Open our minds to your vision as we remember all who suffered
through Australia and New Zealand’s involvement in wars,
conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Grant all servicepersons who sacrificed health and life for the good of all,
the gift of your deep peace.
May we who inherit the freedom for which they fought
become instruments of your peace in our homes, workplaces and world.
We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
We have had a wonderful start to the term in the 1/2 area!
In Integrated Studies we are learning all about change, with a big focus on Science! We began the Unit by creating our own erupting volcano and observing the reaction. We can’t wait to conduct more exciting experiments throughout the term.
Here are some of our ideas about what science is:
“Studying the world and animals” - Zeb
“Imagining and creating” - Eden
“Adventuring in your mind” - Patrick
“Messy and interesting” - Ruby
We have also started learning about Narratives in Writing. This week we read the story of The Gruffalo. We listened to the adjectives used to describe him and drew a picture to match.
We are looking forward to another productive and happy Term!

To celebrate ANZAC day the Senior Students created prayer hands. Each student had to trace their hand and write words and prayers that resonated with them. We then collated our prayer hands into class wreaths to display in the 5/6 area.
Congratulations to our school captains Ruby and Nate who did a wonderful job on Sunday reading a poem at the ANZAC Day commemoration service.
ANZAC Art Work from our 1/2 and 3/4 Students.
During this weeks assembly we congratulated Blue House on winning the Senior House Athletics and awarded each age group champion from the athletics their medals.
Under 12/13 Girls Julia Lindsay
Under 12/13 Boys Finn McNally
Under 11 Girls Ruby-Jean Hallam
Under 11 Boys Luciano Finsterer
Under 10 Girls Isla Curtin
Under 10 Boys James Dowson

Congratulations to all our athletic award winners.
Thank you to Townsend Nursery for their support of our Gardening Club, it was a very popular lunchtime activity for students and lots of great work was achieved to make our school look beautiful.
Project Compassion 2021 - Be More
Thanks to the fantastic response by families and students there were plenty of chocolate goodies to be raffled and many happy prize winners.
We raised $2045.50 which will certainly benefit our students and be directly used to fund various resources.
Thank-you to everyone for the generosity of spirit and goodwill.
May the force be with you!
Our new soccer goals have arrived! Thanks so much to the SRC for organising and assembling them. They will no doubt bring many playtimes of enjoyment!
Thank you to the parents who helped out making headphone bags for the 1/2 area they have been much appreciated and are being put to great use!
Our other areas are loving these bags and would also like some, if anyone would like to sew some for our 3-6 areas could you please contact the office.
On Wednesday the 21st of April Jake and I went to Traralgon for the Regional Tennis Championships. There were heaps of courts and it was very fun. I won 3 games and lost 2 but it was great being there with all the other kids. Both Jake and I didn’t go through to the final but we both tried our very best and had lots of fun competing and meeting new people.
